‘Windows’ was recorded with my friend Justin Cullen (AKA Frankenstein Bolts) in the Winter and Summer of 2012 and marked an important step on my creative musical path. The EP is sonically diverse and a reflection of the various styles of indie rock, heartland rock,  pop and folk which influenced my writing at the time.  A big thank you must go to Justin, whose keen ear and arrangement sensibilities helped pull the very best out of these songs (Be sure to check out his own website at the link above.)

Windows’ is an album steeped in classic Americana imagery which completely enthralled me as a teenager. These returning images and themes are present on many of the songs – the road, the girl, the night, and perhaps above all else, the concept of young romance and innocence, and their place and power within what can often be a suffocating world.

I had to the opportunity in July to take part in a day of video making in Augsburg, Germany with Attila and Friends and Dirk Wonhöfer. We recorded a number of original songs in the Maerchenzelt on blistering hot summer’s day including a previously unreleased song called ”Wandering Irish Heart.”

I’ll be joining ex-miner Seamus Walsh and Dr Michael Conway tomorrow evening as we perform ‘So Deep Within the Shadows of The Mine’ – a show which depicts and reflects on the stories of The Deerpark Mine in Castlecomer, North Kilkenny through poetry and song.

The show begins at 8pm in The Hole in the Wall (17 High Street, Kilkenny).

Be sure to tune in to Roddie Cleere’s Irish Music Show on Sunday evening from 8pm on KCLR 96FM where two songs from my new album ‘Songs of Healing’ will feature along with an oldie from years back. Sara Ryan will also be performing live in studio. Big thanks to Roddie for featuring the album on the show.

I’m looking forward to playing at Sommerlounge an der Wertach on Friday, June 22. Things will kick off at 4pm and I’ll be hitting the stage from 9-10pm but be sure to get there early to check out the other great musicians and artists.
